To approve as a correct record the Minutes of the last meeting.

The minutes of the last meeting were approved as a correct record and signed by the Chair.

To consider the exclusion of the Public from the meeting before discussion takes place on the following items of business on the grounds that in view of the nature of the business to be transacted, if the public were present there would be a disclosure to them of exempt information within the meaning of Part VA of the Local Government Act 1972.

RESOLVED, THAT:

The public be excluded from the meeting before discussion took place on the following item of business on the grounds that in view of the nature of the business to be transacted, if the public were present, there would be a disclosure to them of exempt information within the meaning of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972.

The Licensing Officer reported on a review of a Hackney Carriage Driver and Private Hire Driver’s Licence held by MNM in order to determine if MNM was a fit and proper person to hold such licences.

MNM was not present at the meeting and as MNM had not made a request to have the hearing deferred the Committee decided to determine the matter in MNM’s absence.

RESOLVED

That having regard to the conduct recorded against MNM the hackney carriage driver’s and private hire driver’s licences be revoked on the grounds under section 61(1)(b) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976.

The Committee noted with concern the apparent difficulties experienced by officers when they had requested information from private hire operators, given that it is their legal responsibility to provide the information requested.
