Appointment of Mayor

To elect the Mayor of the Borough and Chair of the Council for the 2020/21 Municipal Year.

Minutes:

It was moved by Councillor Shah Hussain and seconded by Councillor Lubna Khan and

 

RESOLVED UNANIMOUSLY

 

That Councillor Wajid Khan be Mayor of the Borough for the 2020/21 municipal year.

 

(Councillor Anne Kelly then vacated the Chair in favour of the Mayor).

 

His Worship the Mayor Councillor Wajid Khan then made and subscribed the Declaration of Acceptance of Office as required by Law.

 

2.

Vote of thanks to the retiring Mayor

To move a vote of thanks to the retiring Mayor for her services during the past municipal year.

Minutes:

It was moved by Councillor Gordon Birtwistle and seconded by Councillor Charlie Briggs that the grateful thanks of this Council be extended to the retiring Mayor for the services rendered by her during the past Municipal Year.

 

On being put to the vote the motion was declared to be carried and it was

 

RESOLVED UNANIMOUSLY

 

It was FURTHER RESOLVED

 

That at a later date the Mayor will present Councillor Anne Kelly and Mr John Kelly with the ex-Mayor and Consort medallions.

 

Councillor Anne Kelly responded by reviewing the highlights of her period office, thanking all those that had helped her.

3.

Appointment of Deputy Mayor

To appoint a Deputy Mayor and Vice Chair of the Council for the 2020/21 Municipal Year.

Minutes:

It was moved by Councillor John Harbour and seconded by Councillor Arif Khan and it was

 

RESOLVED UNANIMOUSLY

 

That Councillor Mark Townsend be elected the Deputy Mayor/Mayor Elect of the Borough for the 2020/21 municipal year.

 

The Deputy Mayor Councillor Mark Townsend then made and subscribed the Declaration of Office as required by Law.

4.

Mayors Communications

Minutes:

The Chief Executive, Mick Cartledge reported that there would be no mayoral events for the foreseeable future due to the Covid virus but His Worship the Mayor would resume his duties as soon as he was able to do so.
